Nana

I thought it'd be a brilliant idea to take an old photo of a family member and cover them in tattoos.

I'm quite pleased with the results. This is a photo-based lithograph, while the tattoos are painted on in gouache. The teardrop is metaphorical of mourning, since the lovely lady in the photo has passed. This piece was done for Contemporary Issues, and was put through a series of trials. Covering my great grandma in tattoos was my way of reconnecting with her in a sense.
